Is it that bad doing something illegal if it doesn't harm anyone? I mean, what would be the harm in downloading music, really. Musicians still make trillions of dollars by making music because people pay for the music off iTunes, buy their albums in the shops, see them live in concert, it's not like musicians really have hard roads. I know that I may sound a little dickish but seriously, if something really good comes out then I will buy it. I mean I bought shit loads of albums this year but if I spend that much money on shit, and then something amazing comes out, I'm not going to wait until I have money so I can go buy the album, I'll just download it like a normal person.
So what would be the harm in say, driving around at three in the morning looking for street signs and traffic cones to take home to decorate your room, none? Okay that's good. Back to music, I recently got a copy of The Resistance by Muse and to say the least, it's bloody amazing. Some of the songs aren't the full ones and it is fairly low quality but it is a pre release download and the full album won't get a release until September 14th. I will buy it though, because I am not a dick like Chris.
On a more fighting note, next weekend I will have a boxing match against my arch achievement rival, Andrew Mark Heinicke; better known as The Blazing Sparrow.I plan on knocking him out within the first round, and anyone that wants to come and watch can come for some free entertainment at the Brettodome. We'll get back to you on the exact details but you can rest assure that when I'm done with that fucker he will look like he does in that picture up there.
Footy!

The main problem with downloading music doesn't come from the bigger artists who are popular and gain profit from playing massive arena shows and from getting royalties from radio plays. Because the majority. It comes from the smaller bands that have to handle their own production of the album and the distribution of the albums themselves. The fact is that doing all of this as a small artist costs a lot of money because it comes from their own pockets and not out of a profiteering corporate record label.
And when they put all this hard time, work and money into recording something and getting it out to the world through themselves or a small independent label and no one buys it because they can just go out and download it for free it's a real kick in the balls to these artists. But something to note is that most of these artists are happy to just get their music out to the world. The fact of the matter is that a lot of the bigger artists aren't the ones complaining about having money sucked from them because of downloading, it's the record labels who lose the most money on it. I don't download artists who deserve to have their records bought but if a band is being released through a penny sniffing record label download away.
good blog, also gunn is right and wrong
I mostly download music albums that I can't be bothered buying because I only know one or two songs from it. I buy an album if it's a band that I really love or an artist or whatever.
Also, I've found this site called trueanthem.com where its just bands that want their music out in the world for people to listen to, most of it's free (all of it I think) and yeah, it's great.
My favorite band on that site is Ultraviolet Sound, you should check them out ;)
how am I right and wrong Jesse?
