In case you don’t know, which you probably don’t because I don’t find it mentionable enough to put up here or tell anyone or anything, but in case you don’t know, I don’t like fish very much. Not eating fish that is, I love eating fish, but I don’t like fish when they are alive. I prefer swimming in a pool than a lake or something, just knowing that there is a chance that I could take a step and step on a fish or something kind of grosses me out. I don’t know why this is, but it just is, and that is why I didn’t have much enjoyment yesterday in my first day out of the house.
In my first expedition into the outside world, I went to Brett’s house for a swim, and what was going on there seemed much like what was going on in my own home. Everyone was just sitting around playing Pokémon, and this kind of made me a little bit angry because I was sick of writing blogs about Pokémon and if we all just sat there playing Pokémon then, once again, I would have nothing better to write about. They played Pokémon for a further hour or so, and I was wandering why I missed the outside world so much, I mean so far, it is exactly the same as the world that was in my room. Soon after Andrew evolved his bird thing into a bigger better bird thing we went outside for a swim. Now the reason I am calling it a bird thing is because I don’t know many... actually, any of the Pokémon after Gold and Silver. I know all of the original one hundred and fifty one, and I know most of the next hundred from Gold and Silver but anything after that I am completely oblivious towards. He was playing Pokémon Platinum, which is the newest one, and yeah, it confused me.
We went out for a swim and we started throwing the soccer balls in the goals that are in Brett’s pool. I then left the pool to take a piss in the garden because I have enough courtesy not to piss in the pool, and it was warm enough in there as it was... and I have a penis. I started pissing and then Andrew tells me that he found the ticker fish that is in Brett’s pool. My first reaction was the obvious, ‘what’s a ticker fish?’ but my next thoughts were more along the lines of ‘why is there a ticker fish in Brett’s pool?’ I didn’t really believe him, and I didn’t even believe that there was a kind of fish called a ticker fish, but it was enough to make me not go back into the pool. He said that it was hard to see because it was kind of the same colour as the pool tiles, but he saw it before and then it swam away really fast. I said that I didn’t believe him but then Andrew asked if I could hear the ticking, and I could.
I was walking around the edge of the pool, looking for the ticker fish. I couldn’t see it, but then I saw this brown blob thing under the water in the corner of the pool, I asked Andrew what it was and he swam over to it and said, ‘shit, that’s it.’ I got closer to the water and looked at it, but it didn’t look much like anything. Andrew just told me to come in, because it was just a ticker fish. I walked over to the house and called for Brett, because he was still inside playing Pokémon by himself because he said that he wanted to get his Eevee to level twenty six before he got in the pool. Brett came out and I thought to myself if I ask him ‘is there some ticker fish in your pool?’ and he said ‘yeah’ he could just be playing along, or it could be real, and I have actually gained no new information. But if I said ‘Brett there’s some fish in your pool,’ he would either say ‘yeah the ticker fish’ or ‘what?’ I told Brett that there was some fish in his pool, and just like I thought he said ‘what?’
I made my way to the pool, with the confidence I have never had before. The ticking was still happening, but it was the pool cleaner thing that goes around the pool. Something I also don’t like. I mean I don’t like swimming knowing that I might put my foot down on something that I think will be tiles and turns out to be this cleaning thing... and I am pretty sure that when I was a kid it nearly ate me once. My confidence levels dropped, as they did when I found out there was a ticker fish in the pool.
